First Impressions

From the moment we arrived, Trelay Holiday Park felt more like checking into a boutique countryside retreat than a traditional holiday park.

The reception team gave us a warm welcome before showing us where our accommodation was located.

One thing that really impressed us was the level of customer service. Shortly after we'd settled in, a member of staff came over to explain how everything worked, including the heating, hot tub and sauna.

It might sound like a small detail, but it immediately made the stay feel much more personal.

The Luxury Cornwall Hideaway sits within its own beautifully landscaped area of the park, giving it a peaceful and exclusive feel from the moment you arrive.

A Small, Peaceful Holiday Park

Before booking, it's important to understand what Trelay Holiday Park is - and what it isn't.

If you're expecting a large holiday resort with swimming pools, bars, restaurants and evening entertainment, this probably isn't the right choice.

Instead, Trelay is a relatively small, beautifully maintained holiday park that's perfect for guests looking to slow down and enjoy a quieter break.

There are no on-site restaurants, bars, swimming pools or entertainment venues.

For us, that was actually one of the biggest selling points.

Instead of busy clubhouses and noisy evenings, the park has a calm, relaxing atmosphere where you can truly unwind after a day exploring Cornwall.

If you're travelling with younger children, there is a children's play area on site, giving them somewhere to burn off some energy before heading back to the lodge.

For older children and teenagers, the nearby beaches, coastal towns and attractions provide plenty to keep everyone entertained.

We loved returning after a day out and simply relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the birds rather than loud evening entertainment.

If that's your idea of the perfect holiday, Trelay Holiday Park delivers exactly that.

The Private Wellness Garden

Without question, this is the standout feature.

As soon as you open the gate into your private outdoor space, it feels more like your own boutique spa than holiday accommodation.

The wellness garden includes:

  • Six-person hot tub

  • Outdoor sauna

  • Ice bucket shower

  • Seating area

  • Large gas barbecue

  • Outdoor dining table

  • Sun loungers

  • Private enclosed garden

We arrived on Friday afternoon in rain, but by Saturday and Sunday Cornwall was bathed in sunshine and we spent hours enjoying this outdoor space.

Having your own hot tub and sauna completely changes the experience and makes it feel much more luxurious than a standard holiday lodge.

This really is the feature that makes The Luxury Cornwall Hideaway stand out.

Open-plan kitchen and living area inside The Luxury Cornwall Hideaway at Trelay Holiday Park, featuring the fully equipped kitchen and children's mezzanine sleeping area.

The modern open-plan kitchen at The Luxury Cornwall Hideaway is fully equipped for self-catering breaks, with a children's mezzanine sleeping area above the bedroom.

Inside the Lodge

Stepping inside, the first thing you'll notice is how modern everything feels.

The décor is contemporary, clean and finished to a high standard throughout.

One thing worth mentioning is that the accommodation is compact.

Trelay describe it that way themselves, and we'd agree.

Rather than a traditional large lodge, it feels more like a luxury pod that's been cleverly designed to maximise every bit of space.

For two people, it felt perfect.

If you're travelling as a family of six, just expect things to feel a little cosier indoors.

The accommodation includes:

  • Open-plan lounge

  • Large Smart TV

  • Fully equipped kitchen

  • Dining area

  • Double bedroom

  • Bathroom

  • Sofa bed

  • Children's mezzanine sleeping area

Although compact, it never felt cramped for the two of us.

Kitchen Facilities

The kitchen was better equipped than we expected.

Facilities include:

  • Four-ring induction hob

  • Full-size oven

  • Microwave

  • Toaster

  • Kettle

  • Fridge with small freezer compartment/shelf

  • Compact dishwasher

  • Cookware

  • Plates, bowls and glasses

  • Recycling facilities

We also appreciated the thoughtful welcome touches, including Cornish tea, Cornish coffee and fresh milk waiting in the fridge.

One tip if you're staying for several nights...

Bring a few extra dishwasher tablets, as only a couple are supplied.

Bedroom & Bathroom

The bedroom continues the same boutique feel as the rest of the accommodation.

You'll find:

  • Comfortable double bed

  • Large TV

  • Wardrobe

  • Towels

  • Robes

  • Slippers

Because of the layout, the bed is only accessible from one side, but after the first night we hardly noticed.

The bathroom is compact but modern with:

  • Rainfall shower

  • Handheld shower attachment

  • Toilet

  • Wash basin

Everything felt clean, fresh and well looked after.

Children's Mezzanine

One feature we really liked was the mezzanine sleeping area.

Accessed by ladder, it's designed primarily for children and almost creates a little den for younger guests.

Small adults could use it if necessary, but we'd definitely say it's better suited to kids.

Kids can also do stargazing with the fibre optic night sky in the ceiling - it’s the little touches that make Trelay Holiday Park in Cornwall so special.

Welcome Pack

Waiting for us inside was a welcome pack with snacks and drinks, alongside the complimentary milk, tea and coffee.

They're only small touches, but together they help create a much warmer welcome and reinforce the premium feel of the accommodation.

Just 9 minutes away, Polperro is one of Cornwall's most photographed fishing villages.

It's easy to see why Polperro is such a popular destination.

Is The Luxury Cornwall Hideaway Worth the Money?

We paid £881 for three nights in June 2026.

There's no getting away from the fact that it's more expensive than many standard holiday lodges.

However, we don't think this is trying to compete with standard holiday lodges.

Instead, it's offering something quite different.

You're paying for:

  • Your own private hot tub

  • Outdoor sauna

  • Private wellness garden

  • Spacious outdoor living area

  • High-quality accommodation

  • Peaceful surroundings

  • Excellent location close to Looe and Polperro

If your priority is simply getting the biggest accommodation possible, there are cheaper options available.

If you're looking for a relaxing luxury break where the outdoor space becomes part of the holiday experience, we think the price starts to make much more sense.

We also paid a small supplement for early check-in, allowing us to arrive at 2pm instead of 4pm, which gave us even more time to enjoy the facilities.
