If you’re searching for a Hotel Indigo Torquay review, here’s our honest take after staying at this brand-new Devon hotel.

Torquay has no shortage of traditional seaside hotels, but Hotel Indigo Torquay offers something a little different: a more modern, boutique-style stay with stylish rooms, sea views, a rooftop bar, and strong value for money. We stayed in a sea view balcony room to see whether it really lives up to the photos - and overall, we were seriously impressed.

In this Hotel Indigo Torquay review, we’ll cover the room, breakfast, location, parking, food, and whether we think it’s worth booking.

Where is Hotel Indigo Torquay?

Hotel Indigo Torquay is located on the English Riviera in Devon, in a quieter spot between Torquay and Paignton. From the hotel, it’s around a 15 to 20 minute walk to Torquay Harbour, while Paignton is only a few minutes away by car or on foot depending on where you’re heading.

That means you’re not right in the busiest part of town, but the trade-off is better views and a more relaxed setting.

Hotel Indigo Torquay Room Review

We stayed in a sea view room with a balcony, and this was easily one of the biggest highlights of our stay.

The room felt fresh, modern and well thought out, which makes sense given that the hotel only opened in late 2025 and 2026 is its first full season. The design has a boutique feel, with sea-themed touches, stylish lighting, a large bed, and a smart layout that makes good use of the space.

In our room, there was:

  • A coffee pod machine with pods

  • Complimentary water

  • Tea, coffee and hot chocolate

  • A wardrobe with hanging space

  • Shelves and drawers for clothes

  • Slippers and robes

  • Iron and ironing board

  • A mini fridge with drinks and snacks

  • Air conditioning

  • USB and plug sockets by the bed

The room itself felt a step above many standard seaside hotels in the area.

Balcony and Sea View

If you’re considering upgrading, we’d strongly recommend a balcony room if your budget allows.

The balcony had two chairs, a small table, and fantastic sea views. It was windy during our stay, but even in late March it still felt worth paying extra for. In warmer months, this would be an even better experience. The hotel only has a small number of balcony rooms, so they’re likely to sell out quickly in summer.

For us, the view was the standout feature of the stay. Waking up to the sunrise over the water the next morning was a real bonus.

The bathroom at Hotel Indigo Torquay - modern, spacious and one of the best hotel showers we’ve had.

Bathroom Review

The bathroom was another area where Hotel Indigo Torquay stood out.

It had twin sinks, a large mirror, good storage, and a walk-in shower with no step, which is helpful from an accessibility point of view. The shower controls were positioned sensibly, so you could turn the water on without getting blasted with cold water first. Water pressure was also excellent, which is not always a given in UK hotels.

This felt like a genuinely high-quality bathroom rather than just a basic hotel bathroom.

Hotel Indigo Torquay breakfast in room full English tray with pastries and coffee

Breakfast delivered to our room at Hotel Indigo Torquay - highly recommend adding this when you book.

Breakfast at Hotel Indigo Torquay

Breakfast was included in our rate, and we chose to have it delivered to the room.

The breakfast offering was generous, with cooked items including bacon, hash browns, scrambled egg, beans, sausage, mushroom and tomato, plus pastries, toast, cereal, fruit, orange juice and coffee. It was well presented and one of the better hotel breakfasts we’ve had recently.

Our verdict on breakfast was simple: fantastic, with plenty of choice and very good quality.

Food and Drink

On the ground floor, the hotel has the Root and Reef Bistro, which serves food and drinks in a stylish bar and restaurant space. There’s also an outdoor terrace, which looked particularly good for warmer weather. The hotel even provides blankets for cooler days if you still want to sit outside.

There is also a rooftop restaurant and bar called The Cask, although it was closed during our stay and was just starting to open on weekends. In peak season, that rooftop space is likely to be a major selling point.

We also ordered room service and tried the burger and fries, which arrived nicely presented and were a good option if you want a relaxed evening in the room.

Facilities

Hotel Indigo Torquay also has a gym on the top floor, and because it is part of the IHG Rewards programme, we received a complimentary drinks voucher on check-in.

The overall feel of the hotel is modern and polished, with a boutique edge that helps it stand out in Torquay.

Parking at Hotel Indigo Torquay

Parking is available in the hotel’s basement car park at £15 per night. The clearance is approximately 7 feet, which is useful if you drive a larger vehicle, although it is still worth checking directly with the hotel if you have roof bars or a particularly tall car.

Having on-site parking is a real plus in Torquay, especially during busier months.

How Much Did We Pay?

During our stay, entry-level rooms were available from around £74 per night in the off-season, which we think is very good value considering the quality and how new the hotel is.

We paid around £186 total for a sea view balcony room including breakfast and parking.

For what we got, we thought that represented strong value.

Final Verdict: Is Hotel Indigo Torquay Worth It?

As a Hotel Indigo Torquay review, our verdict is very positive.

This hotel feels like one of the best modern hotel options in Torquay right now. It offers something fresher and more stylish than many of the town’s traditional places to stay, while still delivering the sea views and holiday feel you want from a Devon coastal break.

The biggest strengths are the design, the room quality, the bathroom, the breakfast, and the views. The only real drawback is that you are not directly by the harbour, but for us that wasn’t enough to take away from what is otherwise an excellent stay.

If you want a modern seaside hotel in Devon, we think Hotel Indigo Torquay is well worth considering.
