First Impressions

Arriving on a rainy South Devon day, the hotel instantly felt like a relaxing escape. It’s slightly set back from the seafront with no sea view, which gives it a quieter, more premium feel compared to many Torquay hotels.

Our Signature Refurbished Room

We stayed in a Signature Refurbished Double Room, and overall, it struck a great balance between comfort and modern design.

Highlights:

  • King-size bed with a large headboard

  • Plenty of plug sockets & USB ports (well thought out for modern travellers)

  • Air conditioning for a comfortable night’s sleep

  • Tea & coffee station with biscuits and bottled water

  • Robes and flip-flops for the spa

There’s also a nice seating area with two rotating chairs - perfect for relaxing after a day exploring.

Storage & Practicality:

  • Spacious wardrobe with hangers and spa towels

  • Hairdryer included

  • Iron available on request

Overall, the bedroom feels freshly updated and well designed.

The Bathroom - A Mixed Finish

The bathroom is clean and perfectly usable but doesn’t quite match the standard of the bedroom.

What to Expect:

  • Corner bath with seat

  • Separate shower

  • Heated towel rail

  • Complimentary toiletries

Downsides:

  • Limited storage space

  • Slightly dated elements

It’s not a dealbreaker - just something to be aware of.

Food & Dining

The food here was genuinely one of the standout parts of our stay.

Dinner

  • High-quality dishes (including a perfectly cooked steak)

  • Great presentation

  • Relaxed atmosphere

Breakfast

  • À la carte cooked options

  • Continental buffet available

  • Friendly and efficient service

This matches what many other guests say too, with reviews frequently highlighting “excellent food” and “delicious breakfasts.”

Guests regularly describe it as relaxing, clean, and high quality, making it a key reason people book this hotel.
